Newspaper article: Experts on soil organic matter work at Thünen Institute of Climate-Smart Agriculture

In a detailed article on the carbon sink function of agricultural soils, the weekly newspaper Die ZEIT reports in its issue from March 27, 2024 on the work of the department of Soil organic matter of our institute and the German agricultural soil inventory. The role that soil carbon sequestration could play in climate change mitigation and which measures contribute to soil carbon accrual are highlighted. We are investigating how measures for soil carbon accrual can be implemented in agricultural practice in the project HumusClimateNetwork. The article shows the challenges associated with soil carbon accrual for climate change mitigation and the leading role of our institute in its research.
