Wissenschaftlicher Werdegang

1992-2017: Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Institut für Ostseefischerei Rostock.

1987-1991: Aspirantur an der Sektion Biologie der Universität Rostock,  Abschluss mit Promotionsarbeit zum Thema „Grundlagen einer Miesmuschelaquakultur in der Mecklenburger Bucht“.

1982-1984: Postgraduales Fernstudium zum „Fachingenieur für den Fischgesundheitsdienst“ am Institut für Binnenfischerei der Humboldt-Universität Berlin.

1980-1991: Arbeit als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter, Projektleiter im Institut für Hochseefischerei und Fischverarbeitung Rostock im Bereich Küstenbewirtschaftung/Aquakultur. Forschungsschwerpunkte waren die Brutaufzucht von planktonfressenden Cypriniden in Warmwasseranlagen und Untersuchungen zur fischereilichen Nutzung der Miesmuschel in der westlichen Ostsee.

1975-1980: Biologie-Studium an der Universität Rostock, Fachrichtung Ökologie/Fischereibiologie, Abschluss mit Diplom-Arbeit zum Thema „Umsetzversuche mit Mytilus edulis L. in die Darß-Zingster Boddenkette und Untersuchungen zum Bestand von Mytilus edulis“.
