Fields of Activity

Project "Reduction of plastic waste from the brown shrimp fishery through gear modifications (DRopS)"

Research Interests

 Reduction of negative impacts fishing gears have on the environment by:

  • reducing bycatches in active and passive gears
  • applying fish behavior patterns to improve gear selectivity
  • reducing interactions between active gears and the sea floor 
  • increasing the efficiency of active and passive gears
  • estimating survival rates of discards and evaluating methods for improving those
