Developing and maintaining a geodatabase for biodiversity-related datasets
Cultural landscapes and land-use are subject to permanent change. In order to investigate and evaluate the impacts of land-use and landscape change on biodiversity in the long-run it is essential to develop and maintain a geodatabase that contains biodiversity-related datasets.
Land-use changes are driven by environmental, technological, economic, social and political developments. In order to analyse and evaluate the impacts of land-use change on biodiversity at different spatial scales (field, farm, landscape, national) high-resolution spatial data are needed. The availability of biodiversity-related datasets is a prerequisite to derive practical recommendations for the development and improvement of future biodiversity monitoring and indicators as well as for the assessment of greening measures of the CAP.
The project aims at developing and maintaining a geodatabase for biodiversity-related datasets to enable long-term and continuous research on topics highly relevant to agri-environmental policy.
The development of the geodatabase is being carried out in close collaboration with other TI-institutes and the TI-geodata infrastructure. Moreover, there is a close exchange with external institutions (e.g. BfN, DDA).
