Our research team deals with the analysis of the utilization of wood as a resource.
The ongoing internationalization of the forest industry and the integration of national wood products markets in European and global markets lead to constant change in supply and demand structures. Political objectives such as the promotion of renewable energies, climate protection and nature conservation as well as market changes i.e. the rise of fossil fuels prices cause direct or indirect effects on the use of wood raw materials and on income and employment of related branches.
We examine national and international development of the forest products markets and analyze global trade of wood based products. One recent key focus area is timber trade from illegal logging. We prepare balances on supply and use of wood and compile statistical information on income and development in the wood based industry sector. We analyze the competitiveness of the wood based industry and examine interdependencies with other sectors.
