Since 2010: Scientist at the Thünen Institute of Baltic Sea Fisheries, Rostock

2007 - 2010: Scientist at the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research (AWI), Bremerhaven, Germany, especially development of an optical plankton analyzer and a multi-sensor carrier system

2006 - 2007: Post Doc at the AWI (GLOBEC program synthesis phase, research on scyphomedusae, mysids and other zooplankton)

2002 - 2006: Ph.D. Position at the AWI, titel of thesis: „Influence of pelagic invertebrate predators on the zooplankton in the Baltic Sea and North Sea“

2000 - 2001: Biologist in Ecotoxicology at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg, Germany

1999: Volunteer Position: US Geological survey (USGS) Biological Resources Division, Alaska (work on chum salmon (Oncorhynchus keta))

1991 - 1997: Studies of Biology at the University of Hamburg,  Major: Zoology, Minors: Hydrobiology/Fisheries and Conservation, MS Thesis (diploma) included the identification of parasites in sticklebacks. The parasites were used as indicators of stressed systems in the Baltic Sea (In German)
