INSPIRE Node

The INSPIRE-compliant provision of data is associated with increased demands on the spatial data infrastructure. For this purpose, The Centre for Information Management provides the INSPIRE node as a specialized infrastructure. Via the node, environmental data are published according to harmonized schemes and read out by the Geodata Infrastructure Germany (GDI-DE) and the European INSPIRE data portal.

The Thünen Institute is in constant communication with the international community in the INSPIRE Thematic Clusters to clarify open questions and help shape the discussion on data provision. At the federal level, the Thünen Institute cooperates with the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) and the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) to standardize soil monitoring data in Annex III. For example, descriptions of admission procedures are standardized and published for use by all German authorities.
