Stakeholder Analysis in climate mitigation processes

Project

 (c) Susanne Klages

Identifying stakeholders in the Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture process

The project aims to analyze actors and stakeholder engagements in international climate mitigation processes in agriculture, especially in the work program of the Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture (KJWA).

Background and Objective

The Paris Agreement also integrates agriculture into international climate negotiations. In 2017, within the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), a process was initiated to discuss issues relating to the role of agriculture in climate policy. Since then, various workshops and contributions have been held in which various actors from this area have come together. We create a stakeholder analysis based on the inclusion of stakeholders in this process and evaluate the results according to topic and region.

Approach

The relevant actors of the Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture (KJWA) work program are diverse, as this process addresses both climate mitigation and adaptation and covers many topics in the field of agriculture. In order to compile the list of actors in an organized, systematic and understandable way, they were identified in the following steps: (i) actors who give a presentation in one of the KJWA workshops, (ii) actors who make contributions to the KJWA Programand (iii) other key actors active on the international stage.
