The Institute of Fishery Ecology at the Johann Heinrich von Thünen-Institute, Federal Research Institute for Rural Areas, Forestry and Fisheries, in Bremerhaven is offering a position for a
Scientist (m/f/d)
in the joint research project Solar-Aquaculture Habitats as Resource-Efficient and Integrated Multilayer Production Systems" (SHRIMPS), aquaculture subproject. The position is to be filled as soon as of 01.02.2021 and is limited to the fixed term 14.08.2022.
The SHRIMPS research project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF under the CLIENT II program (International Partnerships for Sustainable Innovations) and aims at roofing aquaculture facilities in Southern Vietnam with photovoltaic panels for multiple use of space and adaption of the aquaculture system to climate change by providing shade and reducing water consumption. This interdisciplinary project is coordinated by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems, further partners are Viet Uc Seafood Group, Nong Lam University in Ho-Chi-Minh City, GIZ as well as companies and institutes from energy and photovoltaics sector in Vietnam and Germany. Aquaculture research will be carried out in close collaboration with Viet Uc Seafood Group and the Faculty of Fisheries at Nong Lam University. The specific target is to evaluate the effect of roofing of aquaculture facilities for shrimps and Pangasius, defining maximum shading level, and developing rearing and feeding strategies for roofed aquaculture systems.

The employment contract is governed by the provisions of the collective agreement for civil service (TVöD). Remuneration is in accordance with tariff-category 13 TVöD. Part-time employment is possible in principle, subject to fulfillment of all requirements of the job.
