(impact assessment of CO2 boarder adjustments)
for the coordination of inter-institutional activities that aim to estimate product-based emissions and to integrate them in agro-economic models. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to quantitatively evaluate different options for a CO2 border adjustment system with the CGE model MAGNET and to support policy advisory in the context of the ´Green Deal and the ´Farm-to-Fork initiative.
The employment is designed to develop own scientific qualifications, e.g. with the aim of taking over scientific leadership and management tasks in federal or state institutions. The term of employment is regulated by § 2 (1) S. 1 Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz.
The possibility of taxing the CO2 content of imports at the European Unions external border, with the aim of preventing carbon leakage, has long been the subject of political and scientific debate. This option is currently suggested within the framework of the European Union's ´Green Deal. Agriculture is responsible for about a quarter of all greenhouse gas emissions globally and at the same time, the EU is the world's largest importer of agri-food products. Thus, its inclusion into a border adjustment system is expected to exert a certain leverage in reducing emissions. The aim of the project is to develop concrete options for a CO2 border adjustment system for agricultural products and to assess the consequences of their implementation.
We offer work in an active and stimulating scientific environment on questions of high relevance at the interface between economics and politics and make use of contacts to national and international research institutions and organizations.
