The Thünen Institute of Forest Genetics, one of the 14 Federal Research Institutes for Rural Areas, Forestry and Fisheries in Germany, is offering a 3-year part-time position with 65 % of the regular working time (i.e. currently 25.35 hrs/week) starting on October 01, 2020 for a
PhD Student (research associate) (m/f/d)
to work within the FNR-funded joint project FraxForFuture to elucidate the genetic basis of natural variation in the response of ash trees against ash dieback. Several F1 populations will be characterized genetically (using NGS data) and phenotypically to identify the genomic regions underlying increased disease resistance.
The project will take place at both locations of the Thünen Institute of Forest Genetics. This position will be mainly based in the genome research group of the Grosshansdorf site. It will allow the applicant to pursue an academic qualification (doctorate degree) in cooperation with the department of biology of the University of Hamburg.
The employment relationship is governed by the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD). The payment of the remuneration is made when the personal and collective bargaining requirements are fulfilled according to pay category 13 TVöD (65 %).
