The Thünen Institute of International Forestry and Forest Economics of the Johann Heinrich von Thünen-Institute, Federal Research Institute for Rural Areas, Forestry and Fisheries, in Hamburg invites applications for a part-time position (75%) in the working area forest products markets as
a Scientist (f/m/d)
as project team member of the joint BioSDG research project funded by the BMBF.
The position is limited to a fixed term until the 31.03.2023 and is to be filled as soon as possible.
The acronym BioSDG stands for "Sustainable Development Goals: What contribution does the bioeconomy make?. The project investigates on how the transformation of the current economy into a bio-based economy can contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and where target conflicts between individual SDGs may arise. The investigation bases on a global scenario analyses carried out by an interdisciplinary model network. The Thünen Institute of International Forestry and Forest Economics contributes to these efforts with an adapted version of the global wood products market model GFPM (Global Forest Products Model).
Among other tasks, the job holder will focus on the question how different CO2 prices or climate-relevant strategies could affect developments in wood product markets. This requires the modification of individual components or parameters in the GFPM. The job holder gets the possibility to use its working results to pursue the Doctorate. For the doctoral graduation, Thünen Institute collaborates with a number of universities.
The Thünen Institute is a German Federal Research Institute under the auspices of the German Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) with the mission to develop science-based decision support for policy making and to broaden the scientific horizon of knowledge for the benefit of the common interest. The working area of forest products markets examines national and international developments of the forest products markets and analyze global trade of wood-based products.
