Already one single gram of soil harbors more than 1,000 different bacteria. In addition there are archaea and fungi. How important is this huge microbial diversity for soil functions and how can the natural microbial physiological potentials be utilized in context of a new sustainable agriculture? Applying the latest and best molecular tools we try to answer these questions.
