National Monitoring of Biodiversity in agricultural landscapes started

New

The German program „National Monitoring of Biodiversity in agricultural landscapes“ started on March 28, 2019, in Berlin. The program was initiated by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL). 13 specialized institutes of the Johann Heinrich von Thünen Institute and the Julius Kühn Institute will elaborate a broadly based monitoring program together with the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (BLE).

In one sub-project, the Thünen Institute of Agricultural Technology will look for technical means and opportunities to record biodiversity parameters by farmers automatically during agricultural cultivation of field crops and grassland. Such data may serve as an important Citizen Science based contribution to the national monitoring of biodiversity.

Further information about the total project is given here (in German).
